Bumps on basil stem. Should I be concerned?

Hi! I have recently found some lumps on my basil stem and was wondering if I should be concerened. From what I’ve heard online, it may just be roots attempting to form, but I just wanted to be sure that it isn’t bad for the basil, thanks!

It’s a supermarket basil I picked up and seperates into different pots.

Hi @BeeBottle

You’re right, it is root nodules. These appear when there’s the proper humidity and basil thinks it can get more water from the surrounding air. It’s harmless, and a way to propagate basil from the stem.

This occasionally happens with our smart garden basils too.
