Identify this weird plant

A friend of mine sent me this image and claimed this is a real plant. Any idea what it is?

Clatrhrus archeri ?
But a fungi, not plant.

Thanks! Any idea where these grow? I’d be freaked out if i’d walk into this thing in a forest or field.

Would this freak you out?

Exactly the material Sigourney Weaver would encounter when entering a random dark cave on a alien planet.

That’s exaclty what I thought. It looke like the alien egg from “Alien”. Love that movie! This fungi…not so much. Does anyone know where these grow?

The surrounding stones are the giveaway—Lithops aka Living Stones but I’ve only ever seen photos and never in that state, only what’s inside that casing/membrane. It’s pretty neat though if that’s how they propagate or was someone playing PhotoShop? The colors are right though if not. What’s the story on it,priit?

Yes, the Lithops it is. I have tried growing them twice or thrice.
The trick is that you have to water them only twice a year. The latter is impossible for a caring gardener
no photoshop.
