Hi - I have basil and lavender that I started growing 12/29/24, and the peppermint I just started two weeks ago because the previous pod did not work. Since everything is growing at different speeds, should I repot the lavender and basil (stopped growing as fast as lavender), or should I prune the basil and lavender back down and remove an arm from the smart garden 3? I’m also not sure are the basil and lavender mature enough to repot. If so, maybe I can take them out and add two brand new pods. Please help!
Hello @ZhenGarden
It’s good to have you growing with us!
It’s your choice if you want to repot or not. You don’t need to repot, as these three can happily live next to each other.
I’d advise leaving the lamp at this height and not cutting the lavender or basil yet - they are too small.
After repotting the plants will need extra light, because they are so used to the smart garden lamp and without it, their growth may be even slower. So before you repot let the plants grow bigger than they are now.
But if you are still considering repotting the plants I can give you a few tips.
*Take a container that’s not more than one thumb size bigger, usually 1-2 cm( 0.3-0.7 inches) is the best.
- Use universal soil for houseplants or herbaceous plants
*If possible trim some leaves, but leave at least 2/3 to grow.
*Leave them under good light and make sure the substrate stays relatively moist.
Good luck!
