Hi my lettuce is 32 days old. The outer leaves are paper thin, wilting and yellowing. Is this normal? Would it help to remove the white cap to give it more room?

Hi @CindyS
Green Lettuce is a loose-leaf lettuce type that may feel quite thin and soft. Removing the cup probably would not change much. Lettuce is sensitive to temperatures higher than 24C/75F, if its warmer than that in may lead to leggy growth and thin leaves.
But I would suggest start harvesting, as in 32 it is ready for its first harvest. If you prefer to do it in a cut and come again manner, just remove the outer leaves and leave the inner leaves to thrive and harvest the whole pod later. Or, harvest it now in one go.
