Growth’s picked up a bit, but the plant is also attracting thrips. I have to regularly wash the leaves or shake the leaves to drop out tiny insects.
After 1 month.
no need to worry, gardening is all about experimenting and not always all things go as planned. We took Lovage to the climate chamber and it also refused to grow in there at 30C and 80RH, so, you did good Connie.
Hi, if your garden is infested with thrips, maybe you should consider letting those plant pods go. It is a real pain to get rid of thrips. They live inside the plant tissue in early life stages and by now they have probably infested all the plants around aswell.
Hi @Max,
Indeed it seems you can harvest the largest mature leaves with the whole stem soon.
Lovage is common in European cuisine. Lovage is similar to celery and parsley but has more intensive flavor. Used either fresh, dried, or frozen. This herb is mostly used in different broths and soups. But also in egg dishes, in fermented foods, or as simple garnish or even in drinks.
I use it just as I use parsley in my dishes, I really enjoy the intensive flavor, especially in a chicken soup broth.
Hi @Salvo_Baglieri, unfortunately, aphids have infested your garden. They produce transparent but very sticky secretion while feeding on plant sap.
If you don’t feel like discarding infected plant pods you may try to wash them off under running water. You probably need to repeat this and carefully monitor your plants for weeks. It takes just one aphid to start a colony again and they are masters in hiding.
Good luck!
Thank you
