Boston Ivy

I have fence extentions along our back fence, if I plant boston ivy at our side fence fill it climb up & along our fence extentions? Or will I need to attach wooden trellis on our back fence that cover the fence extentions? Also will it climb by itself or do I need to thread it throw the trellis as it grows?

Also should I buy 2 boston ivy’s & plant at each end of our back fence or will 1 be enough & eventully cover the whole back 10M long fence?

I am a total beginner at gardening. Help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kerry

Just a caution about Boston Ivy… if you have pets, it is toxic to dogs and cats if they eat any, on purpose or accidently.

thank you for letting me know as I have 2 poodles who are always in the garden. I also read that boston Ivy cab destroy wood. so not good to plant against a wooden fence

You’re very welcome! I have 3 dogs who are absolutely my family. I understand how much we want to keep them safe!
