Hello. I have a smart garden 3 at home. In that I have put 3 tomatoe pods. From what i’ve understood, it is possible to move the plants to bigger pots. But, do i then have to move the whole pod into the pot, or should i remove the plant from the pod?
The thing is that i would like them to grow bigger by putting them in a pot with pumice. The pot must be connected to a self-irrigation system like the one in the picture that i’ve included in this message. So my next question is how i can make it work? And what should i buy to make it possible?
Yes, you may transplant the mini tomatoes into bigger pots. But use only 2-3 cm or 1 inch bigger pots than the plant pod cups.
It’s better to replant with the plant pod substrate part and remove the plant from the plastic cup.
Click and Grow uses micro cultivars that don’t tend to grow very much bigger than in the Smart Garden. You won’t get bigger plants from these, as they don’t genetically grow that big.
But it shouldn’t be a problem with the irrigation system. Does the system use drip irrigation, or does it take the water from the bottom?
If you want to use big pots like these, then I recommend planting all three plants in one pot.
Hi Debora. First of all i thank your for the response. But that gave me a new question. If the plants already are micro cultivars, will it then be able to grow a little bit more in a bigger pot or will it not change anything? Cause the whole idea with transplanting them into bigger pots was to give them the opportunity to grow more, get a bigger root system and be able to produce more tomatoes. But it this wont be the case, then maybe it is not worth it.
The system take water from the bottom.
