Red Hot Chili Peppers dying on day 81

Hi, I have the Click and Grow smart garden 9 Pro and I absolutely love it! I am on my 5th month with my garden. I planted 2 pods with Red Hot Chili Peppers and had great success the first weeks, recently they have become droopy and dead looking as well as having blackish areas along the stems. I replanted both of them hoping to revive them but not sure what the cause is.
I allow the water tank to get close to empty before filling up, keep them in a warm climate (FL) and pollinated the flowers. Could it be because of placement being to close together?

Hey!

The plants are under stress. Flowering is quite tiresome for chilies. While flowering they need extra water, light, and nutrients. Usually, the replanting is done before flowering or after flowering. But in this case, you can trim the plant slightly, so there’s a better chance for it to bounce back. And water it thoroughly.

Plants in smart gardens are always kept moist, so when you replant them into new pots, they will need more water than usual potted plants. Just remember to remove any excess water in the saucer/pot later.

So one reason why the plants looked dry could be that the wick wasn’t working correctly or was clogged or the roots got rootbound.

Thanks for the advice, I ended up repotting them and they have been doing much better! Can you spot the chili?!

Yes, found it! Standing proudly. :muscle:

Happy that you got to repot them. Just make sure they get good light and remove any yellowing-brown or crisp leaves.
