What is killing my plants?

My basil & mint have been hit with little black dots everywhere that kill the plant. I have two different C&Gs and both have been hit, though initially, it was just the one. Chives don’t seem to care, but basil and mint won’t flourish. I’ve thrown out all the sick plants—now what? How do I make sure the C&Gs are clean/not harbouring anything, and how do I keep it from coming back?

Hi, it might be you have thrips, or some other pests, living in your garden, but it is difficult to be sure based on just one pic.

Anyways, it would be smart to clear the garden and give it a good wash. There is some more info here.
