Lettuce and heating pad?

I’m a new “gardener” and never really have a green thumb. I’ve never really grow anything. I do have loads of experience killing house plants so cg appeals to me as it looks like set it and forget it type of gardening.

I have 2 cg9 one hand me down and a new one I got for Christmas.

I planted 3 green lettuce, 3 basil and 3 cilantro one week ago. Only 2 green lettuce sprouted

.

No action/ growth from the rest of the pods. The 3rd lettuce did not sprout as well.

I am thinking it’s because our apartment is cold so I decided to try using a heating pad. However the app tells me that lettuce is heat sensitive so I am afraid to ruin the 2 lettuces in order to help the basil and cilantro.

Any advice on this?

Hello fellow gardener!

Let’s see…
Not all plants germinate in a week; sometimes, it takes longer, like two weeks or so, depending on the plants. The golden rule is that if the seeds do not germinate within 21 days, they are eligible for replacement. So, if that’s that feel free to contact our helpful Support here.

Are the plant pods you planted newly bought or already a few years old?

If you don’t mind sharing what’s the temperature near the garden? Usually a little lower than 18.3°C /65°F is perfectly fine too. Some plants may be slower to grow, like basils and tomatoes that love higher temperatures.

The heating pad will probably heat the water in the tank, and I am not sure how convenient this is. Maybe the issue lies in something else.

Thanks Deborah!

The pods I’ve got were newly bought. The apartment gets cold during the day when nobody is at home so the heaters are shut off. I thinks it gets to 11-12C. Which is why I thought that’s the problem. The temperature goes to 18C once I turn on the heating.

I’ll keep the patience up! I am hopeful to see these plants thrive and grow soon.

Okay, thanks for clarifying.

If the temperature is lower, the plants may also grow slower. But I hope they will still germinate. If not, please contact Support.

Sure, same here. :crossed_fingers:
